FRIDAY 30 SEPTEMBER • 22.00 – 23.30 HRS

Bandphoto Von Hertzen Brothers

Von Hertzen Brothers have never been an easy band to categorise by genre.

Their music is often and better illustrated in terms one might use to describe a novella, painting or a movie:  Dynamic. Thought provoking. Magical. Nuanced. Expansive. Epic. Uplifting.

So, it is fitting that these three Finnish brothers approached their 8th studio album ‘Red Alert in the Blue Forest’ from the perspective of three artists creating a joint exhibition. The resulting body of work, a double LP, reflects the brothers’ unique upbringing, love of nature and the global challenges faced by humanity.

It’s understandable how a strong artistic temperament was instilled into these three siblings.

FEATHER MOUNTAIN was founded in 2017 and consists of members who share a friendship based on a mutual love for the art of prog rock and metal influenced music. On the debut album ‘Nidus’, the Danish band dig deep into the universe of progressive rock, pushing the genre forward through beautiful, yet brutal, vocal arrangements and technical ingenuity, which combine into a unique expression of bliss and frustration. The band has no fear of sounding too soft or too hard. The band feels an urge to integrate vulnerability as well as viciousness in the musical interpretation of hope, hopelessness, aggression and redemption.

Swedish progressive metal masters SEVENTH WONDER, formed in 2000, just released a new studio album, “The Testament”. This new album follows 2018’s “Tiara”, which, at the time, was the band’s first new music in eight years. While the wait between albums was, mercifully, shorter this time around, the band certainly did not need any extra time to craft a stunning album showcasing their prolific instrumental skills and intricate songwriting. Indeed, “The Testament” is a high watermark in the band’s already revered discography. We are pleased to have the band back on stage at ProgPower Europe, don’t miss it!

VULKAN is a Swedish heavy progressive rock band from Karlstad. Starting in 2006 the band did a few recordings under a different name which later was changed due to the heavier sound they were creating. Heavy, epic and with a true sense of melodies wrapped in a progressive cloak — that is Vulkan.

The albums ”Mask Of Air” (2011) and ”Observants” (2016) are the two predecessors to the new ”Technatura” that will emerge in 2020. On ”Technatura” they have taken the best parts of the recent two albums and boiled them down into a 60 minute musical rollercoaster. You are thrown into the deep abyss of the unknown, from eruption to insight, the struggle between the good and the bad, the calm before the storm and even into the eye of the storm.

The roaring tides pull you through a thunder of drums; an orchestra furiously churns the skies above your head. The river banks sweep by, riffs and harmonies bursting to life on the shore, while an undercurrent of percussive bass forces you to keep moving. With a gasp, you reach out and cling to the vocal line, and it only draws you deeper.
